Communications Officer
Salary: RM5,000 – RM6,000 (Salary will be based on skills and experience)
General Description:
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to maximize the development, organization and dissemination of knowledge and information with the permanent Secretariat of the Asia-Talloires Network of Engaged Universities (ATNEU) based at the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Industry Community Partnerships) – HEJIM, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Bang.
The Talloires Network is a global association of over 190 institutions in 59 countries committed to strengthening the civic roes and social responsibilities of higher education. ATNEU is the Asian regional partner of the Talloires Network. As a dedicated network for the Asian region, ATNEU brings together key regional stakeholders from universities, communities, industries and governments to catalyze sustainable university-industry-community partnerships that identify and address the Asian community’s social, economic and environmental challenges and ultimately improve the quality of life for communities in the Asian region.
Job Description:
1. Work closely with the Executive Director and the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Industry & Community Partnerships) to develop. update and maintain content on an ongoing basis for the ATNEU and HEJIM web portal and engagement database.
2. Collect and organize relevant information on best practices from internal and external sources in hard copy and in electronic form.
3. Collate, edit and present information and outcomes of forums and conferences as reports, publications and statistical data as and when requied.
4. Draft and issue media statements, information notes, fact sheets, brochures and other written materials for dissemination to local and international media and external stakeholders.
5. Support HEJIM in writing proposals and developing presentations for collaborations with external stakeholders.
6. Develop ATNEU and HEJIM newsletters, marketing and publicity materials on an ongoing basis.
7. Contribute to planning of and arrangements for ATNEU and HEJIM events, in particular regarding the design, development and Production of materials.
8. Attend to other ad-hoc duties as instructed by the Executive Director.
Essential Attributes:
The Communication Officer must demonstrate strong English Language writing, editing and communication skills; must understand and be fluent in the use of software applications, such as Word and PowerPoint; preferably have mods and awareness-raising experience; have the ability to multi-task and set priorities; have a strong capacity for analysis and information management manage time efficiently; demonstrate strong teamwork skills; manage and work with internal and external stakeholders and deliver communications within assigned deadlines.
Candidate must possess the following qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree with Honors in any discipline, but English, journalism, marketing, communications, business, liberal ads or human resources are preferred.
Research Officer (2 positions available)
Basic Salary: RM1,871.18 (depending on skills and experience)
Applications ore invited for the position of Research Officer to support the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Industry & Community Partnerships) for the development and implementation of research initiatives in the following areas:
1. Impact and sustainability of university-industry-community engagement programmes (1 position)
2. Language planning & policy and graduate employability (1 position)
Job Description:
- developing the terms of reference for research in engagement / language policy and gaduate employability;
- identifying research project requirements with internal and external stakeholders;
- drafting research proposals and specifications;
- identifying and adopting research instruments;
- ensuring that research is conducted within a set time frame to meet requirements;
- ensuring quality control of research:
- based on research data, providing information and analysis on engagement / language policy and graduate employability issues and its development;
- producing both written and ad briefs for HEJIM and stakeholders as requied, based on research evidence;
- keeping up to date with developments in engagement/ language policy and graduate employability issues, as well as qualitative and quantitative research methods;
- developing reports and presentations of research findings;
- developing and managing the annual research plans, research budget and annual research reviews for the research initiatives at HEJIM;
- attending to other ad-hoc duties as instructed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry & Community Partnerships).
Essential Attributes:
The Research Officer should be someone who has the passion and initiative to undertake key research in areas related to university-industry-community collaborations. or in the area of language planning & policy and graduate employability. He/She should hove excellent organizational skills and demonstrate bilingual proficiency (Bahasa Malaysia and English).
Candidate must possess the following qualifications:
i. Bachelor’s Degree with Honors; or
ii. Master’s Degree
